Meribel

Geographical location:
This is a ski resort in the Tarentaise valley in the French Alps, located at an altitude of 1400 m, in the heart of the ‘Three Valleys’ and made up of the villages of Méribel-Centre 1450, Méribel-Mottaret 1750 and Méribel-Altiport 1400. It is a typical Alpine resort for family holidays. How to get there: Airports Chambéry — 9.5 km; Grenoble — 120 km; Geneva — 135 km; Lyon — 185 km, Nearest train station — Moutiers (18 km).

There are 52 restaurants in the resort, ranging from cosy brasseries to the delights of French gastronomy and exotic dishes from around the world.

Ski area:
The total length of runs at Meribel is 150 km, including: 11 green runs, 33 blue runs, 21 red runs and 9 black runs. The longest route is 5 km. The total number of ski lifts is 53. The vertical drop ranges from 1400 to 2950 m. Snow cannons: 711. Meribel is part of the 3 Vallées ski area (Courchevel, Val Thorens) with 600 km of ski-linked pistes, over 300 marked runs, a cumulative vertical drop of 62,000 metres, 28 fun runs and 160 ski lifts. It’s the largest ski area in the world.

Sporting activities other than skiing:
2 snowboard parks, 2 slalom stadiums, sports hall with swimming pool with sauna, jacuzzi, water slides, ice rink, climbing wall, snowmobiles, ice karting, Heli ski preparation course, tobogganing, the unusual glide by dog sled or Ski-Joëring.

Children:
Meribel is a Famille Plus resort, a national label awarded for the welcome and services it provides for families and children. For children aged 1.5 to 3, the ‘Les Saturnins’ children’s play area operates in the Olympic Park, with water slides and a children’s pool. For children aged 3 to 5, the ‘Les Piou-Piou’ kindergarten has a snow play area and a children’s lift. In the ski schools, children aged 5 to 13 can learn to skate at all levels, from first steps to freestyle competitions. The ‘Magic’ winter sports school offers a wide range of fun and exciting family programmes and activities. The Yéti Park offers a safe playground for young skiers.
